Bowen Therapy is a light touch therapy that works on specific points on the body, thus stimulating the body's own healing mechanism, activating the immune system and addressing issues around circulation and assists in re-alignment of the body.
Through using gentle, rolling type movements with the fingers and thumbs on the skin and over specific muscle groups, Bowen helps to release the fascia that lies under the skin to relieve deep seated tension and 'asks' your body to address physical imbalances and heal injuries.
This, in turn, promotes relief from pain and helps renew energy. Between each set of moves, there is a rest period of a few minutes to allow your system to absorb the information it has received and to initiate the healing process.
During a treatment people experience a deep state of relaxation and it is common for people to fall asleep while their body is in healing mode.
Bowen Technique works for both humans as well as animals
The Bowen Technique can address many conditions and is so gentle that it can be carried out equally well on pregnant moms, new born babies, the elderly and those bound to a wheelchair or bed.
It can support those receiving palliative care or invasive treatments and also those not injured or in pain who just want the opportunity to completely relax every now and again or optimise sports performance and minimise the risk of injury.
After a treatment problems that can range from recently sustained injuries to chronic aches or pains significantly diminish or completely disappeared.
Feelings of clarity and improved energy, increased libido, better co-ordination, reduced pain and swelling are commonly reported
Please note that The Bowen Technique is not intended as a substitute for medical advice or treatment.
Please consult your own doctor about any health concerns you may have.
Bowen Technique is a holistic form of therapy. Which means that it "treats the body as a whole, without referral to named disease". So Bowen Technique does not treat the veterinary-diagnosed disease or condition per se, but treats the dog, on the day.
Although a dog may be brought with a condition such as rear-leg lameness, other parts are addressed; including the back, neck, and front-legs, in order to address other possible problem areas caused as a result of the dog compensating for the presenting condition.
In this case the dog may well have tried to shift its weight forward in order to relieve the pain in the rear-legs, but this, in turn, will affect the carriage of the head and neck, and require the front-legs to carry more load. By addressing these other areas, Bowen Technique maximises the dog’s attempts to return its body to proper balance.
Bowen is useful for a wide range of conditions from acute pain to chronic conditions, including:
Many older horses that have been retired due to stiffness have returned to gentle hacking following Bowen Therapy.
All horses will benefit greatly from Bowen Therapy. A treatment can help your horse to gain more elevation in his stride, freedom through the shoulder and power from the hindquarters.
If you feel your body needs extra to make you feel good, shake off the Winter blues and get ready for Spring or just give yourself a treat, than now is a great time to do so.
It's Dewi's birthday week, so she's giving away 2 for the price of one Bowen Technique treatment, plus 20% of a range dedicated products.
